Segregation Isnt Only by Color - Free Essay Example
There are 283 single-Gender schools Nationwide. 170 are all boys and 113 are all girls, However girls outnumber boys in overall environment in a single-Gender school. The brains of girls and boys differ in many important ways. (https://www.edweek.org/ew/section/mult imedia/single-gender-public-schools-in-5-charts.html?override=web ) Boys and girls have bad and good traits. Throughout life Women/Girls have been dominant agents Men/Boys not only in sports , schools, games but as well in everyday activities. In Motivations for single sex education range from religious ideas of sex segregation to beliefs that the sexes learn and (behave differently, and as well as a women given a chance at educational purposes. Many turned to same-sex schools and classrooms for a way to improve educational and behavioral outcomes, and some are met with success. They also learn to gravitate towards non traditional areas that are not always accepted for their gender for example, boys learn to love literature in an all boys school, while girls at an all girls school feel more comfortable with math and science. Years ago schools districts could legally segregate students by race. Today they can segregate people by their gend er, eye color, how much income they are bringing in and education. It was all about how people thought, what people looked like or what color ruled . Segregation is still being put into place till this day all around the world. In my essay I will be writing information and argumentative claims and facts on whats right and whats wrong, whats bias and whats the correct information about single-gender schools. Parents are the ones who decide their kids faith. From the time they are brought into this world until they leave their parents house to go off to college or work. Parents worry and decide what schools are best for their children because they know how hard the world will hit them without an education. For a parent to know that they picked a great school for their child is less stress they have to worry about. In this time area more than one third of american parents agree with a single gender school and one quarter disagree with the idea of a single gender school. Parents were assigned a survey to do based on how many allowed their kids to a attend a single sex school . 70% of parents preferred single-gender schools because there are less outcomes, less problems and less self esteem problems from their children.- https://ctserc.org/documents/news/2013-03-12-single-sex-education.pdf Girls in a single sexy school are pretty much calm and outgoing. More kids that attend a single-gender schools are girls. They are more likely to graduate early because they have the confidence. That are more likely to attend college. Girls often take risks and come out more assertive in a single sex environment. Independence at an all girls school is the key to success. Females contribute to a great deal of self esteem and knowledge. They come out their shells and become their own person. Www.singlesexschools.org According to an all girls school website schools around the world nearly 80% of girls report feeling challenged to their fullest potential and more than 80% of graduates who has already graduated high school reported that they can consider their academic performance as highly successful. Christie Gurten, founder and CEO of 1,000 Dream fund says that single sec-gender schools can be beneficial. They can foster female to female relationships which create a sense of mutual em powerment. -Www.goodcall.com Girls in girls schools have access to all leadership positions, every position on school sporting teams, every role in school drama productions and musicals, and every instrument in a schools bands and orchestras. Girls are encouraged to participate, lead, compete(https://www.agsa.org.au/why-a-girls-school-the-research/) In 2014, Professor Alison Booth of the Australian National University wrote in the Sydney Morning Herald that the evidence is gathering that women in single-gender classes benefit, and they benefit significantly-( .https://www.agsa.org.au/why-a-girls-school-the-research/research-shows-girls-benefit-from-single-sex-environments/ ) All-boys schools offer a welcoming and challenging educational environment. Boys receive close care and guidance, and are encouraged to engage in all aspects of school life that may otherwise be taken over by girls.- ( https://www.ourkids.net/school/top-benefits-of-all-boys-schools.php )Many experts agree that boys and girls learn in different styles but In an all boys learning environment boys develop at their own pace without the comparison to girls. It helps them build their confidence and empowerment. There is a higher participation of boys in non-traditional subjects and extra -curricular activities at single gender school. Boys worry less about fitti ng in because all participants are all boys. They tend to retreat instead into a more narrowly defined sphere of power where they can assert their own past because there is no girls to interrupt them.-( https://www.Care.com) According to Kathryn Kirkland, head of the Junior School at Royal St. Georges College, boys in the primary years often lag 18 months cognitively behind girls. If youre constantly being told to sit down and be quiet, then it starts to affect your happiness and self-perception as a student and a learner, Kirkland says. Here, we give the boys the freedom to be who they are and the encouragement to succeed. -( https://www.ourkids.net/school/top-benefits-of-all-boys-schools.php ) The topic of a single-gender school is a little selfish to me. Its like education has become more about a competition then about letting the kids enjoy their middle school, high school and maybe even collage experience. Have people ever thought what the kids wanted and how they felt about be ing with girls there own age or their own color. I disagree with single-gender schools because what if everybody cant afford the tuition at an all boys or girl college or what if kids have no chance at not experiencing the real world being with mixed gender and mixed colored parents dont think about how will they stand on their own in the real world when they want a relationship or want a family. The parent think about now, the present time but they forget education will always be with them in the future. Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school -Albert Einstein.

I visited the Pueblo Chilies distribution company in Santa Fe, New Mexico. At the back was a room where there were various performances going on. However, I had gone there specifically for the spoken word presentations. Donââ¬â¢t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Generation X" essay for you Create order During the day, this place doubles up as a distribution center for New Mexicos chilies which are often entered into competitions and festivals. The dress code was casual, considering the clientele were simply looking to interact with those who had similar interests in the arts. Night time is usually the best time to catch these performances; away from the bustle of traffic, heat, and work. I went to see the performance with a friend who had recommended it for my project. I am not well conversant with the area so she was a big help in locating it and finding out what times it opened and the safety precautions I needed to take. I discovered that most of the women there were dressed in slacks or jeans and ankle-length shoes, probably to protect their legs from insect bites. The spoken word is a form of poetry that works with word play to communicate social issues and to create awareness or even to entertain. This oral art is not only rhythmic but it is also applicable to all forms of the verbally-expressed arts. It focuses on voice inflection and intonation to communicate with the audience. This is different from poems which often follow a specific pattern and poetic innuendos. The manipulation of sound in the spoken word gives it body and effectiveness. The performer highlighted the emptiness that young people feel and the racial discrimination that still exists despite advances in technology. She reiterated that we are responsible for saving the universe while at the same time we are misshaping it. ?The past predicts the future, while the present speaks of the past in the spoken word reiterates Gwilliams (Gwilliams, Linzen, Poeppel Marantz, 2017). This performance when placed within context shows how far the current generation has gone in a bid to get wealthy while ignoring their social responsibilities. Watching this performance helped me fully understand and appreciate the spoken word. The performer had the audience captivated as well evidenced by their response while addressing what ails the current generation. The most captivating moment was when she identified human pretense in attempting to attain happiness while having a vacuum which they attempt to fill with financial gains at the expense of others. The humanities explore the tenets of human culture which is passed down through generations. The application of this is the use of words to express the feelings of an individual who exists within the same age group and I would like to find out more about how to change the young mindset, if possible. The fluency and mastery of this art is evidence of the evolution of the humanities from mere monotones into pieces that are not only memorable but applicable to a specific audience and within every time frame. The use of familiar language enables audiences to identify with what the performer is speaking of. In the words of Roy and others, the spoken word has the ability to transcend the speaker, creating a historical link in its elf (Roy, Frank, DeCamp, P., Miller Roy, 2015). Literature Review on Fraud/White Collar Crime,...
Fraud and white-collar crime are common forms of crimes that people commit in various aspects and positions in the corporate world. Fraud and white-collar crimes have similar meaning as they refer to the non-violent crimes that people commit with the basic objective of gaining money using illegal means. The cases of white-collar crimes have been increasing exponentially in the 21st century due to the advent of technology because fraudsters apply technological tools in cheating, swindling, embezzling, and defrauding people or organizations. White-collar crime is a complex issue in society because its occurrence is dependent on many factors such as organizational structure, organization culture, and personality traits. Thus, the literatureâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦According to Makansi (2010), fraudsters exploit loopholes that are in the organizational structure and perpetuate white-collar crimes. Thus, stringent regulations and standard procedures of operations are necessary to cu rb white-collar crimes in organizations. Following the revelation that the global financial crisis that emerged in 2008 was due to white-collar crimes in securities markets, insurance companies, and mortgage firms, scholars have attributed white-collar crimes to organizational structure. Simpson (2011) argues that white-collar crime is a complex issue in modern organizations and that the statistics do not capture the reality of white-collar crimes. In metaanalysis approach, the study highlights various forms of white-collar crimes and asserts their complexity in terms of their occurrence, effects, and deterrence (Simpson 2011). Since other organizations are more criminogenic when compared with others, it implies that the differences in their structures are significant factors that determine the occurrence of white-collar crimes among organizations. In this view, meta-analysis conducted by Simpson (2011) concludes that criminogenic organizations have an amorphous structure of market s and economic environment under which organizations operate, and thus create a favorable environment for fraudsters. In this view, the study recommends the establishment of institutions and regulations to strengthen organizational structures andShow MoreRelatedAmerica Vs. EDGAR ALLAN POE AND BREAST CANCER Essay Example For Students
EDGAR ALLAN POE AND BREAST CANCER Essay Dealing with such a frightful disease like breast cancer can be very painful, being the love one of that unfortunate person can be just as painful. Edgar Allan Poe is an author best known for his tragic poetry and heart-wrenching tales of mystery. His past indicates that it had a huge impact on his life, contributing to his insanity. The enormous amount of tragedy that has surrounded Edgar Allan Poe, all his life, makes him a great candidate for writing a common love story struck by all the agonies of sudden death. With the loss of someone special in your life often comes that irreplaceable void, when losing them to a long-suffering battle like breast cancer, many tend to mourn uncontrollably which is normal. Breast cancer is a frightening disease. It can be fatal and while two thirds of the cases among mature women. It also strikes younger females and nine thousand males each year ( Landau 13). Many believe that cancer patients are the strongest persons alive, the loved ones try to be strong for them but eventually ends up losing there way. In this day and age Cancer has started become an epidemic. Doctors have diagnosed hundreds of different types of cancer which can strike at anytime. Soon everyone will suffer or will have suffered from this social problem. Cancer is a general term used to indicate more than 100 separate diseases, but all marked by the common characterists of abnormal cell growth regulating mechanisms ( Rodgers 14). Fortunately, with the advance in technology growing every day, many cancer diagnoses can be regulated or even cured with simple surgery. Tragedy and pain are two things known all too well by poet Edgar Allan Poe. While hed never suffered from any disease before he did from the severe feeling of loss. Edgar Allan Poe as a young man at the age of twenty- seven, he married his cousin Virginia Clemm in 1836, she was only thirteen years old ( Zachary 49). Eliza Arnold Hopkins was a skilled actress who charmed theater audiences throughout the eastern United States. Sadly , she died at the age of twenty-four and left her son Edgar an orphan (Ibid 10). In his lifetime Edgar Allan Poe lost almost all the women in his, from his Mother, Eliza Arnold Hopkins Poe, to his wife, Virginia Clemm Poe, who both died of tuberculosis. These events were thought to be the source of his pain. Poes ongoing emotional distress and self anguish might have contributed to his well known disturbing love stories such as Annabel Lee and The Brides Song or his mysterious short stories like The Tell-Tale Heart and The Black Cat . Edgar was quite the hopeless romantic showering his wife, Virginia, with loving gifts that he could afford but Poe had a notable different side to his personality believed to be his subconscious, where he kept all his dreadful thoughts and feelings. Only to have them resurface on paper through his creative writing. His atrocious personal beliefs of humans tortured, mamed and killed was a sign that Poe was experiencing huge amounts of pain in his inner core. The mystery behind telling a good tragic love story is to make the reader feel as though they are apart of the story, whether they are that charming prince falling in love with the radiant maiden or vice versa. Edgar Allan Poe is one of the few Tragic Poets who are qualified for this, but because of Poes past he could create a better story line. Stress, a bodily or mental reaction to demanding situations disrupts the operations of both the endocrine and the immune system. Some believe this has an impact on the occurrence of cancer ( Rodgers 16). .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .postImageUrl , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:hover , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:visited , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:active { border:0!important; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:active , .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446 .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u4a34311bc14a342a86a52d415f529446:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Why Should We Remember The Holocaust Essay Breast cancer is such a sensitive subject because of the simple fact that it is one of the two parts most sacred to women so to see that it is not in the least bit safe is psychologically discomforting. study on children with abdominal pain and its relationship to mental illness essays Bibliography: Hotopf, Matthew, Why Do Children Have Chronic Abdominal Pain, and What Happens to Them When They Grow Up? British Medical Journal, April 1998 Topic: Why Do Children Have Chronic Abdominal Pain, and What Happens to Them When They Grow Up? Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the hypothesis that children who have persistent abdominal pain come from families with high rates of psychiatric disorder, neuroticism and physical illness. The study also analyzed whether these children will suffer from the previously mentioned illnesses in adulthood. Subjects: The study the based on a sample stratified for social class of all singe legitimate births (3637) that occurred in England, Wales, and Scotland in one week of March in 1946. All children born to non-manual workers and agricultural workers were surveyed, while those born to other laborers were sampled in a ratio of 1:4. Controls were defined as survey members who participated in the same waves of data collection during early childhood, but whom either no abdominal pain was reported or it occurred only once or twice. Information was based on hospital admissions of children who suffered from abdominal pain. Persistent abdominal pain was described as abdominal pain that was reported suggesting that the pain was chronic. Hospital records for these children were carefully reviewed by a pediatrician, and those with a defined organic cause of pain that was judged to have been present throughout childhood were excluded from the sample. Parental illness was accessed when the survey members were aged 15. The mother was asked if she or her husband had suffered from illnesses such as asthma, cough, rheumatism in joints, anemia, heart trouble, kidney trouble, and other health complaints. School attendance records of the children were assessed twice during childhood. Teachers were asked to rate whether the chil ...

Progress report final assignment Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
Progress report final assignment - Essay Example The net effect of this nervousness among lenders and creditors is to drive interest rates up in order to partly compensate for the higher risks involved (not getting repaid). Another consequence is people who have money would rather put or park their funds somewhere safe in super-safe Treasury Bills (or T-bills) guaranteed by the government instead of investing them. This lack of confidence in the economy and the future prospects of how well everyone will be doing are putting a squeeze on available credit. The credit crunch has worsened into a credit freeze in which it is now virtually impossible to borrow money. The net effect will be a continued slowing down of the economy and creates a vicious downward cycle in terms of the jobs lost, reduced tax revenues and so on. More ominously, a credit crunch affects everybody alike but the poor and working classes are adversely affected more than anybody. This results in a nation of people with reduced expectations about their standard of li ving. It means people will have to content themselves with less because a credit freeze leads to reduced economic activities which could have helped to spread and re-distribute wealth around. A credit crunch means negative consequences for almost everyone (Herbert, 2011:1).
